For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.
1 Corinthians 9:19
Do you know the main thing that holds us back from sharing our faith? Come on, you know. The main thing that holds us back is we are afraid of what others will think about us. It’s true, isn’t it?
Why are we so afraid? Well, we think we need others to like us to be someone, to feel good about ourselves. Know that means? We do not believe the gospel we seek to share. Actually, we believe it for salvation but not for transformation. To have freedom to share the gospel, we must apply the gospel to ourselves.
The naked gospel: Jesus + Nothing = Everything
See, many of us think, “I need Jesus and others to like me to be someone.” As long as we think like this, we will never be bold witnesses.
Paul (see verse above) had applied the gospel to himself. He understood Jesus = Nothing = Everything
Notice, For though I am free from all men… Jesus was enough to make Paul someone. He did not have to have their approval. He would have liked it but he didn’t need it. That freed him to share the gospel, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more… He could take risks, be rejected, beaten, and imprisoned because he was already loved, he could do what was best for others.
If you find yourself afraid to share Christ (no one is bigger coward than me), preach the gospel to yourself first (Jesus + Nothing = Everything), then preach it to others (Jesus + Nothing = Everything).
Holy Spirit fall fresh on us. Open our eyes to see that Jesus is enough so we will be more bold in sharing him with others.
The good news is, when you don’t have to have the approval of others (Jesus is enough) then you are freed to do what is best for them – share Christ!
Together for the gospel,
